The Down South Wines flagship with, limited edition, numbered bottles.
We are happy to rest our reputation on this wine. In using traditional techniques in making this wine, it underwent minimal filtering to preserve its simplicity. With time, it may lay a small crust. Need we say more than the tasting notes below.
In crafting this elegant wine, expense is not a consideration. It is made to the highest possible quality.
Produced from our Five Mile Brook™ vineyard, in the Geographic region of South-Western Australia, this premium wine has been aged in 100% new American oak for 18 months prior to bottling. The small block has tuart loam soils which overlie a limestone substrate. Warm ripening conditions, enhanced by cooling Indian Ocean afternoon sea breezes, result in an outstanding terroir.
Its brick red appearance and delicious oak nose is supported by aromas of plums, toast, mocha and vanilla. The palate is medium bodied and displays dark berry characters with coffee and coconut nuances resulting in a soft, savoury yet dry finish. This is not a typical bold Australian shiraz but is more reminiscent of the great French Syrahs.
“Chairman’s Reserve is indeed an impressive newcomer in the premium boardrooms of the wine world. A refined partnership of quality Australian shiraz and new American oak. It displays powerfully restrained fruit with an excellent smooth and lingering finish. A strongly recommended buy! …” — Dr Mark Holloway, Medical Practitioner/ Vigneron
